BBC TV’s Crimewatch UK tonight (Thursday November 12) is to feature the police appeal to a mystery caller about a 2003 Eastbourne double murder. The programme goes out at 9pm on BBC1
The murder of mother and daughter Sally-Ann and Lois Baxter Smith on 6 September 2003 was featured on the programme on 29 September. Sally-Ann and Lois died in a fire at their home in Beach Road, Eastbourne.
Towards the end of that programme, a man phoned into the studio giving the name of a man, who he is convinced was responsible for the murder.
The caller said he was unwilling to give his own details. Despite media appeals in early October police have not yet heard from him and remain anxious that he speaks to detectives in the strictest confidence to give details of what he knows.
That caller is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Echelon.
Detective Chief Inspector Trevor Bowles said; “We are determined to see that we get justice for Sally-Ann and Lois.”
