A Sussex based business-to-business news website has filmed the crushing of two stretched limousines which were found to be illegal.
www.thechauffeur.com is the UK’s leading news and features for the chauffeur and limousine industry and exclusively filmed the event which was held by VOSA (Vehicle Operator and Services Agency) which is responsible for road safety.
The stretched Ford Excursion Limousines were seized by VOSA from a South Wales company which refused to comply with laws which allow them to carry more than eight passengers legally.
In a show of force, and to send the harsh message straight to the industry, the limousines were sent to the world’s biggest crusher in Newport, and will now be sent to China and recycled.
Members of the public are being urged to check the limousine they hire is legal by contacting their local licensing authority. AS the school prom season begins, there are worries that children will be travelling in unsafe and unregistered vehicles.
